The Guild of Motoring Artists was formed in 1986 by a group of artists interested in depicting the motoring scene, both past and present, to provide a link between kindred spirits and to promote original motoring fine art produced by its members. The membership includes both professional and amateur artists working in virtually all recognised media. A number of members have had work published as fine art prints, greeting cards and calendars. as well as in the motoring press and books. Many include portrayals of other forms of transport, such as railways and aircraft, in their portfolios.

The Guild acts not only to keep artists in contact with their fellows, but also as a channel through which potential clients can be put in touch with artists, whose style and content suit their requirements. The Guild also offers advice on professional practice and matters of contract.

The Guild held its first London exhibition in 1988 and has since exhibited at various venues in Britain and the USA. In order to maintain a high standard, all works submitted for these events are subject to selection by a panel of members. This offers further opportunities for members to meet.

A regular digital newsletter REDLINE is published to which members are encouraged to contribute.
