RICHARD LEWIS

Born in 1961 in Hitchin Hertfordshire, Richard moved to Los Angeles at the age of 10 months. He attended the Southern California Institute of Architecture.

Living in LA is like being in a rolling car show. Richard got hooked! Along with his architecture background bringing out a compulsion for details the combination fueled his passion to begin automotive painting.

Richard can spend up to 300 hours a single painting bringing out the depths of the watercolor paints to give his paintings the realism he seeks. Starting with shades lighter than weak tea, ending with colors darker than coal, he strives to make each painting a new challenge.

Reflections in chrome and bodywork are the most rewarding challenge in watercolor at present.

Richard exhibits at the San Diego Automotive Museum.
