RICHARD WHEATLAND

Largely self taught with some help from an artistically gifted Aunt, Richard started drawing and painting racing cars and aircraft at fifteen.

He became interested in motor racing history during the late 70's with the re-opening of Donington and the move to his first house near the old Brooklands track. A visit to Roy Nockolds Memorial Exhibition in 1980 gave Richard the idea to work towards a public display which he eventually did at The Brooklands Society Reunion in 1983. As a result of these one man shows some of his paintings crossed the Atlantic and he was represented by an agent in New Jersey for some years.

Richard has produced christmas card paintings for the motor charity 'Ben' for eleven years. Each card has a print run of 100,000 and sell out well before Christmas every year.

His paintings have been produced as limited prints signed by Walter Hassan, Juan Manual Fangio and Stirling Moss/Jack Fairman respectively.Richard has illustrated book covers, 'Motor Ball' brochure designs and poster work.

He continues to exhibit occasionally.
