MAX PEMBERTON

I spent my childhood and adolescent years in Liverpool where I enjoyed the early challenges of drawing and painting.

My interest in motor sport developed as I assisted my father in his amateur racing exploits in the late 50's and early 60's, racing such cars as the Cooper JAP, JBS 'Meek Empress' Special, Lester MG, the Austin Healey 100/6 and Mini Cooper.

I was lucky enough to be taken to many important motor races and these have influenced my approach to painting. My work is split between the 1930's, 1950's and 60's, modern Formula One and Motor Bike Racing.

Whilst I predominantly use pencil, pastel, gouache and oils I do like pencil work. It's not often seen and obtaining dramatic effects with the simplest of materials is very rewarding.

Work is available as open edition black & white prints and limited edition black & white and colour prints. Commissions for gouache and oil paintings are invited.
