DOUG VINCE

Doug was born in 1954 in Woolwich, south east London. As a one year old he wouldn't sleep until he'd looked out of his bedroom window to watch the buses passing by! Always drawing pictures of cars and trains, Doug's childhood ambition was to become a car designer and he passed the time sketching weird and wonderful ideas.

Doug started painting as a hobby over 20 years ago. Whilst keen to paint but struggling for inspiration, his wife Lorraine made the obvious suggestion that he painted what he was most interested in - transport.

He realised one ambition to become a full time artist, launching his business 'Classic Transport Portraits' in 2001, selling prints from originals and painting to commision. Doug exhibits at classic car and transport related shows.

Doug's originals are in oils, combining subjects such as cars and planes, or road and rail. His paintings are intended to be seen, as the motto of his business reads - 'paintings by an enthusiast for enthusiasts!'
