CHRIS PHILLIPS

Born in England in 1942, Chris attended his first motor races at the old Crystal Palace circuit in south London.

Emigration to Canada by the family in 1957 allowed Chris to attend races at Harewood Acres and Mosport in Canada in addition to forays south to Sebring, Watkins Glen and Road Atlanta in the United States.

The fact that the fifties and sixties represented formative years is reflected in Chris's portfolio. Working exclusively in watercolour, his paintings frequently depict the heroes of his youth and the cars they drove. A past winner of an Award of Merit from the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada "Art of the Automobile" competition,

Chris is also a contributing artist to the American publication, Vintage Racecar Journal. Since devoting himself to his art on a full time basis in 1991, Chris has completed numerous commissions in Canada, the United States and the U.K. and, while adding to his portfolio annually, sells Giclée prints of his artwork via his website.

Admitting to a weakness for Jaguars, when not painting them Chris enjoys driving his XK 120, a car he has owned for over forty years.
